2012 Emancipation Stakes Nominations Feature Atlantic Jewel

April 23rd, 2012

Nominations have been released for the 2012 Emancipation Stakes, which is due to run at Royal Randwick Racecourse this Saturday April 28, 2012.

Atlantic Jewel is one of the 16 fillies and mares nominated for the 2012 Emancipation Stakes.

The three-year-old is also nominated for the Group 1 All Aged Stakes this Saturday and trainer Mark Kavanagh will make a final decision over the next couple of days.

No matter the race, jockey Michael Rodd plans to ride Atlantic Jewel in the exact same manner that saw her win the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes last start.

“It worked out well,” Rodd said of her last run.

“She is so exciting. We know she is very good, but we just don’t know how good.

“It’s not a matter of her physically improving, but mentally switching on.

“She is always going to blow our minds because she is so good.

“So it is always so exciting when you get on her back, whether it’s trackwork or race day.

“That’s why I’m glad I can ride her Saturday.”

Atlantic Jewel has won all six of her previous race starts and has earned more than $680,000 in prize money.

Miss Keepsake is also nominated for the 2012 Emancipation Stakes after finishing second to More Joyous in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes last start.

The five-year-old mare has won five of her 28 race starts and has earned more than $525,000 in prize money during her career.

Divorces, Fibrillation, Raspberries, and Crafty Irna are also included in the 2012 Emancipation Stakes nominations.
